Round One Results

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - After one round at the NCAA East Regional, senior Christina Vosters (Bethany Beach, Del.) is tied for 60th after opening with a 74. Competing in a challenging field of 126 other golfers, Vosters is just two strokes over par and four strokes from the second and final individual spot. Junior Ellen Ceresko (Jefferson Township, Pa.) who is also competing in the field of 126, posted an opening round 76, placing her in a tie for 87th.

"Christina played steady today. She hit 15 greens, but was just unable to capitalize on some putts. Managing the greens makes all the difference," said head coach Denise St. Pierre. "They both practiced hard today and should be in a position to make a run tomorrow."

After the first round, Vanderbilt is leading the East Regional after recording a 277. Emily Penttila (Tulane) is leading individually as she shot a first round 65 to put her at seven under par. Lori Beth Adams (UNC Wilmington) is leading the individuals as she posted a 68. Kaew Preamchuen (Kennesaw State) holds the second and final individual spot as she recorded 70. The top two individuals will compete in the NCAA Championships May 20-23 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

The second round of the NCAA East Regional occurs Friday with staggered tee times beginning at 7:45 a.m. Vosters and Ceresko will play in the same pairing as they both are scheduled to tee off from the first tee at 1:00 p.m. Follow Penn State on Facebook at Penn State Women's Golf and on Twitter @PennStateWGolf.
