Bader, Stakhovsky Finish Spring in ITA Polls

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Sophomore Leonard Stakhovsky (Kiev, Ukraine) finished the spring ranked 45th in the final ITA Singles Poll, released Wednesday. Stakhovsky and senior Russell Bader (Austin, Texas) were ranked a season-best 23rd in the final ITA Doubles Poll.

The ITA also released the final Atlantic Regional rankings. As a team, Penn State was ranked No. 2. Stakhovsky was ranked 5th in singles, while Bader and Stakhovsky were ranked 1st in doubles. Michael Reilly and Chris Young were also ranked in doubles, coming in at No. 9.

Stakhovsky, a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection, went 18-8 this spring with eight wins against ranked opponents. Four of those wins came against Top 50 foes.

A three-time Big Ten Player of the Week honoree, Stakhovsky was selected for the NCAA Singles Championships, where he competed against Vanderbilt's Gonzales Austin in the first round.

Stakhovsky was ranked in the ITA Singles Poll for 13 straight weeks, reaching as high as 33rd on April 8 and April 15.

Bader and Stakhovsky went 19-7 this spring, including six wins against ranked opponents and three wins against the Top 25.

The duo received a bid to the NCAA Doubles Championships, where they knocked off Memphis' 13th-ranked David O'Hare and Joe Salisbury in the first round.

Bader, a second team All-Big Ten selection, and Stakhovsky were ranked for nine straight weeks to end the season. They end the season with their highest ranking at No. 23, moving up three spots from the last poll.

Reilly and Young went 15-2 this spring with a 3-0 mark against ranked opponents.
