UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Rising junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) advanced to match play at the North & South Amateur Championship Thursday, posting a 2-over 73 mark in the third round. Dornes finished stroke play tied for third with a 212.
Dornes will tee off Friday morning in the Round of 16 at 7:45 a.m. and face off against Carr Vernon. Vernon finished tied for 11th after three rounds of stroke play, shooting a 215 (73-73-69).
The North & South Amateur is the longest consecutive-running amatuer golf championship in the United States and continues to draw the best amateur talent in the sport. The tournament will conclude Saturday, July 5th.
