East Lansing, Mich.; Oct. 19, 2014 - The No. 11 Penn State women's soccer team overcame a one-goal deficit thanks to goals from Kori Chapic (Russell, Ohio) and Elizabeth Ball (Richmond, Va.) to top Michigan State, 2-1, on Sunday.

The Nittany Lions (14-2-0, 9-1-0 Big Ten), sitting atop the Big Ten standings, swept its weekend in Michigan, which began by shutting out the No. 24 Wolverines on Oct. 16.

In the 19th minute, Megan Marsack put Michigan State (9-6-1, 3-6-1 Big Ten) on the board with low shot for the 1-0 lead.

But Penn State rallied, outshooting the Spartans, 11-4, in the first 45 minutes, and one went in at 36:18. Kori Chapic (Russell, Ohio) knotted the score at 1-1 when she collected on the rebound of a Haleigh Echard (Lebanon, Pennsylvania) shot.

The Blue and White continued to press in the second half and the offensive attack paid off. In the 68th minute, Kindrah Kohne (Homer, New York) took a corner kick and off of the kick, Elizabeth Ball (Richmond, Virginia) headed in the ball after Emily Ogle (Strongsville, Ohio) sent her a cross. The 2-1 game-winner was the first goal of Ball's collegiate career.

In the match, Penn State outshot Michigan State, 20-9. Chapic, Megan Schafer (Langhorne, Pennsylvania) and Katy Keen (Zionsville, Indiana) each took a team-best three shots.

Britt Eckerstrom's (Germantown, Maryland) record moved to 14-2-0 after she made three saves.

Penn State returns to Jeffrey Field on Fri., Oct. 24, when the team hosts Nebraska at 7 p.m.
