Oct. 21, 2014

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The third senior Q&A from the Penn State men's swimming and diving team comes from T.J. Schenkel (Richboro, Pa.). Schenkel has been the Nittany Lions' top diver through the first two meets this season.

Q: Why did you choose Penn State?

A: I chose Penn State because it epitomizes the college experience. Nowhere else in the world can you get this level of education, school spirit and fun all rolled up into a four-year package.

Q: What is your best memory at Penn State?

A: Last year's 2013 Michigan (football) game because I was a part of a historic win over one of Penn State's biggest rivals.

Q: What is your major, and what are your plans after college?

A: Energy engineering, get an awesome job doing all kinds of different stuff with energy.

Q: What is one word to describe your time at Penn State?

A: I would have to pick "Unrivaled" as the one word to describe my time at Penn State. This word has recently been brought to my attention as an adjective to describe Penn State because it is the football program's new mantra. As I had reflected on its meaning, it dawned on me that there is no better word to describe Penn State. For these four short years I could not imagine having spent them anywhere else. In the category of "Best Places on Earth," Penn State is simply Unrivaled.

Q: Rock, paper or scissors? Which one would you choose for your class, and why?

A: Rock, because out of all of the people I have meet since freshman year, the people remaining create a foundation upon which all of us can thrive off of each other's steadfast support.

Q: What was your favorite class/professor at Penn State?

A: Anything Sarma Pisupati teaches, because he is energetic and teaches cool stuff.

Q: What is one thing you want to do before you leave State College?

A: I don't like to think about that, but if I had to pick one thing, it would be to maximize the time I spend with my friends.

Q: What advice do you have for future classes?

A: Go to class and have multiple groups of friends.
