Women's Golf Complete First Round of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Nittany Lions finished the first round of the Landfall Tradition in 16th place with a total of 308 strokes (+20). Play continues tomorrow at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Senior Katlyn Elliott (Peterborough, Ontario) maintained her recent run of good play, firing a four-over 76 to lead the team. Elliott's first round positioned her in a tie for 59th individually. Junior Grace Chung (Richmond Hill, Ontario) and freshman Ariana Coyle Diez (Mount Merrion, Ireland) both finished 77s on day one to sit tied for 63rd place.

Sophomore Kendall Allen ended her round only one stroke behind Chung and Coyle Diez, shooting a 78 (+6). Allen managed an even-par 36 on her front nine. Senior Erin Michel (Mason, Ohio) rounded out the squad with a +11.

Purdue grabbed the lead after the opening round, powering its way to a five-under 283 with three players under par. Purdue leads 11th-ranked Wake Forest by three strokes. The leading individual is Nanna Madsen of South Carolina with a five-under 66. Madsen took home The Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships medalist honor last week and looks to do the same this week.
