UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The first day of the Kitty Harrison Hidden Dual came to a close Friday as Penn State played at the other host site, Duke University. The doubles duo of Katia Blik and Katherine Whiteaway were defeated by Beatrice Capra and Samantha Harris of Duke 8-2. Taylor Shukow and Liyin Xu fell to Ester Goldfield and Annie Mulholland, also of Duke, 8-2.
In the singles bracket, Katia Blik fell to Alexandra Stanova of Maryland 6-3, 6-2. Taylor Shukow was defeated by Maci Epstein of Virginia 6-1, 6-2. Emily Rivers lost to Olivia Gauduecult of Maryland 6-2, 6-0. Melissa Minniti was defeated by Marie Faure of Virginia 6-2, 6-0.
The second day of the tournament is Saturday with doubles matches beginning at 10:00 a.m. The singles results are currently unavailable, but will be posted once they are obtained.
The Nittany Lions will have two months to prepare for the spring season. The spring season begins January 18 when the ladies open with Tulane.
