UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The second day of the Kitty Harrison Hidden Dual wrapped up Saturday as Penn State competed all day. The doubles duo of Emily Rivers and Lisa Petruzillo defeated Cappanolo/Zaytoun of North Carolina State 8-7(4). Katia Blik and Katherine Whiteaway fell to Kay/Vasquez of North Carolina 8-3 while Melissa Minniti and Taylor Shukow were defeated by Akkerman and Kane, also of North Carolina, 8-4.
Taylor Shukow defeated Kristen Ward of Elon 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(5). Katia Blik was forced to retire to Olivia Lucas while Liyin Xu fell to Erica Braschi of Elon 6-0, 6-1.
The third day of the tournament is Sunday with matches beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Nittany Lions will have two months to prepare for the spring season. The spring season begins January 18 when the ladies open with Tulane. The first home match is February 4 as Pittsburgh comes to Happy Valley.
