Penn State Tennis Introduces Sorority Challenge

Feb. 25, 2015

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State men's tennis and women's tennis programs and Penn State sororities are teaming up to introduce the Sorority Challenge. The challenge, which will include all Big Ten conference home matches, is designed to bring student awareness to the tennis programs and unite the Greek community with the athletics community.

So far, 14 sororities are signed up for the challenge, which begins this Friday as the men's team, ranked 27th in the ITA Poll, takes on two-time defending Big Ten champion No. 9 Ohio State at 3 p.m. in the Indoor Tennis Center.

A prize will be awarded to the three sororities that bring the most people. Another prize will be presented to the three sororities that have the best themes.

The first women's match included in the challenge is Friday, March 6 against No. 45 Illinois, beginning at 4 p.m.

The Penn State men's tennis team, led by Head Coach Jeff Zinn and Assistant Coach Paul Tobin, is 4-6 this spring with two wins over Top 20 opponents. They also recently competed at the ITA Men's Team Indoor National Championships in Chicago for just the second time in program history.

The Penn State women's tennis team, led by Head Coach Chris Cagle, is 2-6 this season and coming off a 4-3 win against VCU.
