  • The Lady Lions rallied and took a second-half lead, but #22/23 Rutgers ended the game with a 12-3 run to claim a 76-65 win Sunday afternoon.
  • Freshman Lindsey Spann knocked down a trio of three-pointers on the way to a team-best 16 points with three assists and a steal.
  • Sophomore Sierra Moore was 5-for-10 from the field and finished with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Peyton Whitted continued her solid play with 11 points and three rebounds.
  • Junior Candice Agee added a near double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds and sophomore Kaliyah Mitchell had a team-best 11 rebounds to go with two blocks and two steals. It was the sixth double-digit rebounding effort of the season for Mitchell and the two blocks tie her career high.

    SCOUTING MARYLAND

  • The Terrapins are ranked fifth in this week's AP poll and USA Today Sports Coaches poll with a 19-2 overall record and perfect 10-0 mark in Big Ten play. Maryland has won 13 consecutive games.
  • Laurin Mincy leads a quartet of Terps that average double figures with a 14.1 scoring average. She also contributes 4.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.
  • Shatori Walker-Kimbrough connects on 55.1 percent of her shots from the field as she accounts for 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
  • Lexie Brown adds 13.2 points per game with a team-best 4.6 assists per contest, while Brionna Jones chips in 12.7 points and a squad-high 8.8 rebounds per outing.
  • The Terps are fifth in the NCAA in scoring offense with an 83.7 average and are also sixth in scoring margin with a +22.7 differential.

    ALL-TIME VERSUS THE TERRAPINS

  • The Lady Lions and Maryland meet for the first time as Big Ten foes.
  • Penn State is 14-8 all-time against Maryland, including wins in the last six meetings.
  • Penn State is 8-2 all-time in home games against the Terrapins.
  • The Lady Lions and Terps squared off each year from 1995 until 2003 with Penn State holding an 8-1 record during that time.
  • The squads last met on Dec. 3, 2003 with Penn State claiming an 82-65 win.

    LAST TIME VERSUS UMD

  • Kelly Mazzante went 13-for-22 from the field, 5-for-10 from three-point range and 2-for-2 at the line on the way to 33 points to help the Lady Lions to an 82-65 win over Maryland on Dec. 3, 2003.
  • The Lady Lions used a 16-2 run to open the second half and extend a two-point halftime lead to a 51-35 margin to take control of the game.
  • Tanisha Wright scored 13 points and Jess Brungo added 12 to spur Penn State to its sixth-straight win over Maryland.

    HIGH SCHOOL TEAMMATES MEET

  • Penn State sophomore guard Peyton Whitted will see a familiar face on the other side of the court when she meets high school teammate, Lexie Brown, on Thursday.
  • Whitted and Brown led North Gwinnett High School to the Georgia State Championship in 2013 with a 30-2 overall record and 15-1 mark in conference play.
  • The pair also led the Bulldogs to the state semifinals in 2012, marking the first semifinal appearance for North Gwinnett since 1963.

    CAN CAN BLOCK

  • Junior center Candice Agee moved into a tie for 16th place on Penn State's career blocks list with one rejection at Rutgers on Feb. 1.
  • Agee tied Tyra Grant for 16th spot with 75 career rejections.
  • She needs six blocks to tie Kahadeejah Herbert (81; 1982-85) for 15th place.
  • Agee recorded a career-high five blocks in the win over Rider on Dec. 14.

    DAY OF MILESTONES

  • A trio of Lady Lions reached scoring milestones in the Feb. 1 game at Rutgers.
  • With 16 points, freshman Lindsey Spann moved past the 300 point mark in her career.
  • Spann has 312 points in her rookie season and needs 28 points to move into the top 10 on Penn State's freshman season scoring list.
  • Spann logged her 18th double-figure scoring game this season at Rutgers and led the team in scoring for the 14th time in 2014-15.
  • Senior Tori Waldner also scored her 300th career point versus the Scarlet Knights.
  • Sophomore Peyton Whitted posted her fourth straight double-figure scoring game and passed the 200 career point mark in the process.

    The 2014-15 Penn State Lady Lion Basketball season is presented by Kish Travel and Kish Insurance. The Lady Lions visit Purdue Sunday before returning to the BJC on Wednesday to meet Michigan State at 7 p.m. on Dollar Dog Night. Penn State will also host Minnesota on Sunday at 2 p.m. There's a pregame National Girls and Women in Sports Day Clinic with other women's sports teams. Participants get a free ticket to the game.

    Lady Lion Basketball single-game are available by calling 1-800-NITTANY. Single-game tickets range from $10-17 for adults and seniors and $5-11 for youth (12 and younger). The PNC Flex Books are $120 and give fans 12 vouchers, 10 that can be redeemed in any combination for Nittany Lion and Lady Lion Basketball tickets throughout the year and two extra vouchers for the Nittany Lions' Coaches Vs. Cancer game and the Lady Lions' Pink Zone game.

    The Ninth Annual Pink Zone at Penn State presented by Mount Nittany Health will be held Sunday, March 1 in the Bryce Jordan Center when the Lady Lions take on Wisconsin. The time for the game will be determined later in the season. Last year, the Lady Lions donated a record $310,000 to breast cancer causes. All totaled, the Lady Lions have donated more than $1.135 million for breast cancer research and awareness in the first eight years. This year's fundraising efforts will benefit the Mount Nittany Medical Center, Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute, Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, the Kay Yow Cancer Fund, J.C.
