2015 IWLCA Preseason Poll

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Penn State women's lacrosse team was ranked 11th by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association this week ahead of Saturday's scrimmage vs. Villanova.

The Nittany Lions, who were tabbed 11th by both Inside Lacrosse and Lacrosse Magazine, were voted the same by the country's coaches. Penn State is the third rated Big Ten squad behind unanimous No. 1 Maryland and No. 5 Northwestern, but ahead of No. 12 Ohio State.

Penn State has seven IWLCA Top 20 foes on the schedule this season, four of which are in the top 10: Maryland, Northwestern, No. 6 Virginia and No. 9 Loyola Maryland. PSU also takes on No. 15 Princeton and No. 20 Stanford in 2015.

The Nittany Lions, who have made three straight NCAA Tournaments under head coach Missy Doherty, face Villanova on Saturday at 3 p.m. in an exhibition game at Holuba Hall. The game is free to attend and parking is available in Orange Lot C near Greenberg Sports Complex. The Nittany Lions' first regular season game is Feb. 14 against Lehigh in University Park.
