TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) shot a 69 in the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate Saturday to lift the Nittany Lions to 13th overall with a 584 (293-291) heading into the final 18 holes.
"I'm proud of our guys. They fought back so hard this afternoon on that final nine after a frustrating opening 27 holes," said head coach Greg Nye.
Elliott will enter the final day of play tied for 10th with a 4-under 140 after recording seven 3's over the final nine holes en route to his 29. Freshman Cole Miller (New Tripoli, Pa.) posted a 71 on the Southwood Golf Course on day two to jump to tied-for-43rd place.
Senior Jens Talbert (Little Rock, Ark.) is a stroke behind Miller, totaling 147 strokes through 36 holes. Junior JD Dornes (Lancaster, Pa.) will begin the third round with a 151, while sophomore Cody Cox (Milford, Pa.) rounds out the starting lineup with a 160 two-round mark.
Junior Geoff Vartelas (Cromwell, Conn.), playing as an individual, stands at 153 strokes.
East Tennessee State continues to lead the 17-team field with a 12-under 564 team tally, ahead of second-place South Carolina by just two strokes.
