UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - The Big Ten Conference named sophomore Christian Elliott (Port Perry, Ontario) Golfer of the Week Wednesday afternoon for the first time in his career following a top-15 finish at the Seminole Intercollegiate.
"Christian used a year's experience at Southwood, combined with some key changes in his game to go low for us at the Seminole," head coach Greg Nye said. "It was a much deserved result."
Elliott fired a 4-under 212 (71-69-72) on the Southwood Golf Course over the weekend, recording an eagle and 12 birdies. The Canada-native also shot 7-under on par 5 holes, averaging a tally of 4.42 - a statistic that tied for second-best among the 90-player field. He carded a 29 on the back nine of his second round, shooting an incredible seven 3's.
This performance marked the second time Elliott placed in the top-15 overall this year, the first time being in October at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate when he shot a 142 two-round score and finished tied for 12th.
