Penn State Hosts No. 37 Illinois Friday

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.- The Penn State women's tennis team begins their conference home schedule by welcoming in the No. 37 Illinois Fighting Illini into the Penn State Indoor Center Friday at 4:00 p.m. This is the fourth ranked opponent the blue and white will face in their last five matches. The Nittany Lions return home for the first time in two weeks since knocking off VCU 4-3 on February 22. Live stats can be found by clicking on the link found above.

Scouting Illinois:
The Fighting Illini come in ranked 37th in the latest ITA rankings. Illinois is coming off of a 6-1 win over No. 42 Indiana last Sunday. Maddie Baillon is 4-0 in the singles position during this spring. Melissa Kopinski comes in to Friday's match on a four match win streak and is 5-1 overall in singles. As a team, Illinois is 31-14 this spring in singles matches. The doubles duo of Melissa Kopinski and Louise Kwong are 4-2 in doubles and are riding a two-match win streak.

Nittany Lions in the Rankings:
The doubles team of Victoria Kisialeva (Toronto, Canada) and Dasha Sapogova (Minsk, Belarus) are ranked No. 51 in the ITA rankings. The duo comes in at 5-4 during the spring season. Sam Tutelman (New York, N.Y.) has won her last two singles matches, including the clinching match that gave Penn State the win over VCU.

Penn State next heads on the road for four straight road matches, including three Big Ten matches. The Nittany Lions will first head to Memphis, Tenn. to battle the Memphis Tigers March 11 at noon.
