KANSAS CITY, Mo. -
Penn State women's soccer senior Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica) has been named to the 2015 Missouri Athletic Club's (MAC) Hermann Trophy Watch List, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Wednesday.

Rodriguez, the 2014 Big Ten Midfielder of the Year, is one of four Big Ten female student-athletes named to the 28-member list. Along with being named the Big Ten Midfielder of the Year last year, Rodriguez was named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes first team, the ECAC Division I Women's Soccer All-Star first team, the NSCAA Scholar All-America Second Team and won the Women's College Boot Supporter's Choice award.

On the pitch for the Nittany Lions last fall, Rodriguez finished third on the team in goals (seven) and was tied for third on the team in points (17). She also was tied for the team lead in game-winning goals (three).

This past summer at the Women's World Cup, Rodriguez started in the midfield for Costa Rica's World Cup debut. In the match against Spain, Rodriguez made Penn State history by becoming the first Nittany Lion to score in a World Cup, and she also earned LYG Player of the Match honors.

The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in NCAA soccer presented annually to one male and one female athlete. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the trophy presentation banquet at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis. Rodriguez looks to become the second Nittany Lion to win the prestigious award, as Christie Welsh brought home the honors in 2001.
