UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" Brianna Banks knows a lot about change. Raised in a military family, Banks has lived all over the world, from Germany to Atlanta, Georgia. So when she decided that she wasn't getting what she wanted out of her college basketball experience, she started looking around for something new.

Banks played for the Connecticut Huskies for the first three seasons of her collegiate career, winning two national championships along the way. But she wasn't getting as involved as she felt was necessary for her career after college.

"I wanted to have a career outside of college in basketball and I felt like leaving would be the best decision for me to do that," Banks said.

So with her professional dreams and one year of eligibility left, Banks left the program following her junior year. It didn't take long for word of Banks' transfer to reach Penn State head coach Coquese Washington, and once the Lady Lions' head coach received Banks' release from UConn, she called up someone she grew up with to get try and get ahold of the talented guard: Banks' stepfather, Terell Miller.

"She [Coquese] is close with my stepdad; they grew up in the same area so that's how I knew Penn State was interested," Banks said. "I came out to visit campus because of him and I ended up falling in love with it."
