KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Senior midfielder Raquel Rodriguez (San Jose, Costa Rica) has been named a semifinalist for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Award, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced Tuesday afternoon. Rodriguez is one of 15 female semifinalists for the award.
In her senior season in Blue and White, Rodriguez has tallied six assists and five goals. Rodriguez recorded back-to-back game-winning goals against Indiana (10/11) and Purdue (10/15). On the year, she has played in all 25 matches and the full-time in seven contests.
Earlier this year, Rodriguez received All-Big Ten First Team honors and was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Two First Team.
Ten Nittany Lions have been named a semifinalist on 17 occasions. This season marks the seventh-straight season Penn State has had a semifinalist or runner-up for the award. Christie Welsh is the only Penn State student-athlete to win the MAC Hermann Trophy Award (2001).
The MAC Hermann Trophy is collegiate soccer's most prestigious award, presented annually to one male and one female athlete. Three male and three female finalists for the award will be announced on Friday, Dec. 11.
