UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" Selected to play in their 46th bowl on Sunday, the Nittany Lions (7-5, 4-4) are headed to Jacksonville for a matchup against Georgia (9-3, 5-3) in the 2016 TaxSlayer Bowl on Jan. 2.
Led by Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Carl Nassib, Penn State is postseason bound for the second straight postseason berth under head coach James Franklin. The Lions will enter the bowl season with a defensive unit ranked No. 14 in the nation in total defense, No. 1 in sacks and No. 6 in tackles for loss. Nassib headlines the unit with a Penn State record and nation-leading 15.5 sacks for the season. The first-team All-Big Ten honoree is second nationally in tackles for loss with 19.5.
