UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -
Following a third-consecutive trip to the west coast this past weekend, the Penn State track & field team returns to action this week at the 122nd Penn Relays. The Penn Relays are held at Franklin Field in Philadelphia, Pa., April 28-30.

PENN RELAYS HISTORY

Since 1910 the Nittany Lions have won 113 Penn Relays Championship of America titles, including 31 Championship of America relay titles.
Lee Talbot captured Penn State's first title at the Penn Relays with his toss of 160-6 in hammer throw in 1910 and he went onto win three more Penn Relays titles as a Nittany Lion.

Last year at the Penn Relays, they Nittany Lions captured three Championship of America titles.
Elizabeth Chikotas (Hellertown, Pa.) won the women's 5,000-meter run, Darrell Hill (Philadelphia, Pa.) finished first in the men's shot put for a second-consecutive year, and the Men's Sprint Medley Relay captured the meet title with their time of 3:21.29.

STANDING THE TEST OF TIME

The 2016 Penn Relays marks the 31th anniversary of the Penn State men's 4x800-meter relay that clocked in at 7:11.17.

At the 1985 Penn Relays, the quartet of Vance Watson, Steve Shisler, Chris Mills, Randy Moore finished first in the men's 4x800-meter relay with their time of 7:11.17. Their time still stands to this day and is the oldest standing Penn Relays record.

AMONGST THE BEST IN PROGRAM HISTORY
18 Nittany Lions have moved into the top-10 in program history with their performances on the track this season.

NCAA EVENT RANKINGS
Penn State boasts several marks that are highly ranked in the nation including two athletes inside the top-five in the NCAA in their respective events including Isaiah Harris' No. 4 1:46.05 in the 800-meters, Brannon Kidder's No. 4 3:40.11 in the 1,500-meters, and Brian Leap's No. 3 mark of 16.27m (53'-4.50") in the triple jump.

In the Big Ten, Penn State has 35 top-10 marks in the conference, with nine of those 36 in the top three and three of those marks leading the Big Ten.

NO. 14 IN THE LAND
The Penn State men's track & field team checks in at No. 14 in the latest NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Coaches Poll, as announced Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Nittany Lion men start week four at No. 14 after coming off a very successful weekend competing at both the Stanford Twilight in California and the Bucknell Team Challenge in Lewisburg.
Penn State had a few key performances in Stanford, Calif. Including Brannon Kidder's come from behind win in the men's 1,500-meters in an NCAA No. 4 time of 3:40.11.
At the Bucknell Team Challenge, the Penn State men's team dominated the competition turning in multiple seasons best marks while racking up a team score of 201 points.
At the regional level, the men's track & field team remain the No. 1 squad in the Mid-Atlantic region.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Nittany Lions are scheduled to compete in nine meets in five states before they return to Happy Valley for the Jim Thorpe Invite (May 6). Following the Jim Thorpe Invite, Penn state will travel to Lincoln, Neb. (Big Ten Outdoors), Jacksonville, Fla. (NCAA First Round) and Eugene, Ore. (NCAA Outdoor Championships)

NEXT TIME OUT
The Nittany Lions host their lone home meet of the outdoor season in the annual Jim Thorpe Invite May 6 starting at 2 p.m. at the Penn State outdoor track.
