UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - For each of the last 19 years, the Coaches vs. Cancer - Penn State Golf Tournament has been one of the highlights of the Penn State men's basketball program's offseason. This year is expected to be no different as head coach Patrick Chambers prepares to host the 20th anniversary event Thursday and Friday in University Park.

Festivities begin Thursday with the Sponsor/Captain Reception at the new Penn State Golf Course Pavilion and continue all day Friday with two flights of golf on Penn State's picturesque Blue and White Courses and an evening reception in Beaver Stadium's Mount Nittany Club. Approximately 300 golfers and 60 groups are participating in the tournament, which stands as the flagship event for a year-round CVC-Penn State program. CVC-Penn State topped the $2.5 million mark in fundraising this year and is promptly beginning the push to $3 million.

The annual Silent Auction has moved online for the first time, giving everyone the opportunity to bid on items that include jewelry, athletics tickets, gift certificates for food or services, plus numerous memorabilia items. Among them is a signed Tim Frazier NBA jersey and a signed jersey from Stanley Cup finalist Carl Hagelin. Anyone can create a Bidding for good account and place bids HERE, until 9 p.m. Thursday.

A host of special guests are expected throughout the course of the event, including former NBA and Penn State players, current and former head coaches, department leaders and special guests.

Former Nittany Lion head coaches Jerry Dunn and Bruce Parkhill, along with players Brian Allen (1986-89), Dave Angstadt (1974-76), Wally Choice (1981-84), Nick Colella (2012-13), Joe Crispin (1998-2001), Jon Crispin (2000-01), Chuck Crist (1970-72), Pete Lisicky (1995-98), Kevin Montminy (2012-15), Tyler Smith (1999-2002), Jarrett Stephens (1996-2000) and Alan Wisniewski (2012-15) all will be on hand Friday.

Five-time NBA Champion Ron Harper will tee it up with a group as he participates in the CvC tourney for the third-consecutive year, while former Villanova standout and NBA forward turned Penn State Altoona head coach, Doug West, joins the list of CVC captains for the first time.

Big Ten Network analyst Shon Morris also is making his third trip in a row to Happy Valley for the golf tournament and will share featured BTN guest duties with former Nittany Lion Jon Crispin.
