Dennis Earns Big Ten Weekly Laurels

ROSEMONT, Ill. - Goalkeeper Amanda Dennis (San Diego, Calif.) has been named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon. This is the first weekly honor for Dennis.

Dennis and the Nittany Lions went 2-0-0 last weekend with a 2-0 victory against the Iowa Hawkeyes (Sept. 23) and a 2-1 win against the Nebraska Cornhuskers (Sept. 25) at Jeffrey Field.

In net for the Blue and White, Dennis tallied four saves against Iowa and three saves against Nebraska, including a penalty kick save in the 42nd minute with the score tied at one.

On the year, Dennis has recorded three solo shutouts, posted a goals against average of 0.79, made 33 saves and has a save percentage of .786. Dennis and the Nittany Lion defense have allowed one goal or less in each of the past eight games.

Dennis is the third Nittany Lion to receive Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors this season (Laura Freigang - Aug. 23 & Laura Suero - Sept. 20).
