Women's Fencing Team Dominates at Temple Open

The Nittany Lions women's fencing takes the Temple Open by storm

UNIERVSITY PARK, Pa.; October 29, 2016 - The Penn State women's fencing team trail blazed through the competition during day one of the Temple Open.

Women's epee lead the competition with sophomore Anastasia Kalonji (Rennes, France) taking home 1st place and freshman Barbara Vanbenthuysen coming in 2nd place. Sophomore Nicolette Vigna (Thornwood, N.Y.) placed 6th and Alissa Hofmann (Cambridge, Mass.) finished in 9th.

Junior Kasey Iverson (Basking Ridge, N.J.) placed 8th in women's foil with senior Desree Ortega-Furgeson (Wyoming, Mich.) coming in 10th and junior Najiyyah Clark (Maplewood, N.J) finishing 15th.

For women's saber sophomore Erin McLoughlin placed 13th and DeAna Oliver finished 16th.

Action at the Temple Open continues tomorrow, Sunday, with the men's fencing team.
