Big Ten Release

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- Penn State field hockey sophomore goalkeeper Jenny Rizzo (Hershey, Pa.) was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

This marks the first time in her career that Rizzo has earned Big Ten weekly honors for the Nittany Lions following a stellar freshman season in the cage for Penn State.

Rizzo guided Penn State to a pair of wins over Michigan State and No. 11 Princeton while registering eight saves against the Tigers Sunday afternoon. The sophomore from Hershey currently ranks second in the conference with a .710 save percentage that is the 29th-best in the NCAA.

This is the first Penn State Defensive Player of the Week accolade since Katie Breneman on Nov. 4, 2014.

Penn State remains at home this Thursday vs. Ohio State before traveling to face No. 17 Wake Forest on the road.

The Lion take on the Buckeyes Thursday, Oct. 6 at 4 p.m. ET, while Penn State at Wake Forest is slated to begin at 12 p.m. ET Saturday in Winston-Salem, NC.
