Yazujian on CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team

Dec. 1, 2016

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. - Senior long snapper Tyler Yazujian (Royersford, Pa.) earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-America® first team this season after an appearance on the second team a year ago. Yazujian is the 16th student-athlete in program history to be a two-time Academic All-American.

Yazujian's Academic All-American honor is the 65th for Nittany Lions, which ranks second in Division I football history (FBS and FCS). Overall, Penn State has 194 Academic All-Americans, which ranks fifth among all schools at all levels and fourth among Division I institutions.

The Royersford, Pennsylvania native has a 3.87 grade point average in IST -- security and risk analysis. In addition to his CoSIDA Academic All-American and All-District accolades, Yazujian is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and two-time Academic All-Big Ten choice. He is a seven-time Dean's List selection and has two perfect 4.0 GPA semesters. He has handled all of the long snapping duties each of the last three seasons. With his reliable snapping, kicker Tyler Davis is off to the best kicking start in program history, hitting 21-of-22 career field goal attempts and all 41 extra point tries. Davis broke the school record earlier this season with 18 consecutive field goal attempts made.

Penn State finished the regular season 10-2 overall and 8-1 in Big Ten play after the victory over the Spartans. The Big Ten Championship Game is slated for Saturday with an 8:17 p.m. kick on FOX. The game will also air on the Penn State Sports Network and GoPSUsports.com (6:30 p.m. airtime).

The Nittany Lions' bowl destination will be announced Sunday. Fans can visit GoPSUsports.com/bowlcentral to submit a request tickets for the bowl. The ability to request tickets does not guarantee a Nittany Lion Club member will receive tickets from Penn State's allotment.
