GoPSUsports.com: How did Penn State prepare you?
JR: Penn State has prepared me in many ways. I think most importantly it taught me how to face adversity, how to be a team player and how to win. Playing on a team with 20 different females certainly helped me understand how to navigate different personalities and bring a team to success. I faced my biggest highs and toughest challenges playing for Penn State and I like to remind myself in the "real world" that if you can survive preseason you can get through anything. :)
GoPSUsports.com: Favorite memory as a Nittany Lion?
JR: The hardest question in the world!! I enjoyed every single second as a Nittany Lion, I wouldn't trade it for the world. I give all the credit for the best memories to my teammates. My best friends in the world have come from our team, we are the closest group of twenty-some girls I like to argue, ever! Of course, shout out to Coach for recruiting such amazing people.
If I had to name a favorite game, it would have to be my senior year home opener game vs WVU. Maddy Evans and I connected on back-to-back goals and assists within the first five minutes and Maya Hayes scored our third goal in under ten. Shutting out one of our biggest rivals, 5-0, in front of 4,000+ fans in a home opener was my favorite game by far.
GoPSUsports.com: What are you currently up to?
JR: My path after soccer has been an interesting one. I lived in NYC for two years producing events for Nike, ESPN, NBA, NFL, Diageo liquor brands and Beats By Dre. I was then recruited to work for an agency in LA where I worked at the Nike Brand space for the Women's World Cup and moved to Vancouver for a month. I currently live in Portland, Oregon, working at Nike's World Headquarters on one of the marketing teams.
GoPSUsports.com: Anything else you would like to add?
JR: I am always honored and proud to say I played for the Penn State women's soccer team.
