Jan. 5, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- Penn State Nittany Lion women's tennis player Devan McCluskey (Phoenix, Ariz.) has earned a national ranking form the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. McCluskey is ranked No. 107 in singles in the ITA's initial spring release.

McCluskey went 5-7 during a rugged fall tournament schedule, with two of those losses coming to players ranked in the top 15. The senior from Phoenix has a 39-37 career singles record heading into the dual meet season.

"Devan, like our entire team, has worked hard this fall and it is nice to see her rewarded for her efforts," said head coach Chris Cagle. "We have a veteran squad this year so I am excited to see our entire team compete next weekend. Devan and others will be a big part of the leadership and our success this year. We start up the first weekend after classes start and I know our team will be ready to get into the dual match season."

Penn State hosts its first dual of the season next weekend. Penn State hosts Navy next Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Indoor Tennis Center. The Lions begin the dual season with six straight home matches between Jan. 14 and Feb. 12.
