ROSEMONT, Ill. - After capturing the all-around title at the season-opening Penn State quad meet, junior Briannah Tsang (Vancouver, British Columbia) has been named the Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. This is the first Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor for Tsang.
The Nittany Lion women's gymnastics team won the season-opening quad meet with a final score of 194.625. BYU placed second with a 194.225, Temple took third with a 191.925 and Bowling Green finished fourth a 190.725.
Individually, Tsang won titles outright on the vault (9.850) and floor exercise (9.850). She also tied for the balance beam title with a 9.825. Tsang's winning all-around score of 39.350 set at the Penn State quad meet is tops among Big Ten gymnasts.
The Nittany Lions head to Lincoln, Neb., for their Big Ten opener against Nebraska on Sunday, Jan. 15.
