Shigo Leads the Way on Day One of Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup

DAY ONE RESULTS

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.
- In a short day one at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup, several Nittany Lions took home event wins at the Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.

Starting in the field, the Penn State pole vault crew made it a sweep capturing the top four spots led by Lexi Masterson with her mark 13'-2.50" (4.03m). Hannah Mulhern took second, followed by Kasey Kemp in third and Megan Fry in fourth all with identical marks of 12'-8.75" (3.88m).

Malik Moffett and Bryce Williams finished first and second in the men's long jump with their marks of 24'-4.50" (7.43m) and 22'-11.75" (7.00m), respectively.

Keianna Albury and Olivia Giambra scored in the women's long jump with their jumps of 18'-1.50" (5.52m) and 17'-8.25" (5.39m), respectively.

In the women's weight throw Obeng Marfo took gold (58'-0.25"/17.68m) and Alyssa Robinson grabbed silver (57'-5"/17.50m) to score 18 points in the event.

Morgan launched a huge toss of 67'-8" (20.62m) taking second in the weight throw while inching closer to the school record as he currently sits at No. 2 all-time in Penn State indoor history.

Kory Decesaris followed Shigo taking third in the weight throw with a toss of 60'-9.50" (18.53m).

In the 60-meters, freshman Darien Williams advanced through prelims and finals running identical times of 6.97 to take the event title tying his PR on both occasions.

Bryce Williams took a break from the runway and stepped on the track recording a time of 7.05 - a new PR - while finishing third in the 60-meters.

Freshman Tristan Daman followed right behind Williams running an identical time of 7.05 taking fourth for the Nittany Lions.

Also competing on day one in the 60-meters was Robert Cardina who finished the day with a best time of 7.15 set in the prelims.

The women's 60-meters featured Lauren Costa, who like Darien Williams, finished prelims and finals with identical times of 7.84 scoring two points for Penn State in the finals.

Brady Bobbitt made a late race move to take the lead and the men's 5K with his time of 15:13.83, a new PR.

Alex McCord set a PR in the 60-meter hurdles running 8.80 seconds in the prelims.

Penn State returns to the track tomorrow morning starting at 11 a.m. ET at the Ashenfelter III Indoor Track.
