February 5, 2017 - UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.; The Penn State men's tennis team began the second day of their home opening weekend today against Cornell at the Indoor Tennis Facility. The final match of the weekend will follow the conclusion of singles matches against Cornell at 5:00 p.m. against St. Bonaventure.
The blue and white dropped the doubles point today against Cornell after putting up a hard fight. David Kohan (Sydney, Australia) and Christian Lutschaunig (Richboro, Pa.) faced No. 62 Chris Vrabel and Bernardo Caseres Rosa on court one. On court two, Constant De La Bassetiere (Reims, France) and Christian Lakoseljac (King City, Ontario, Canada) teamed up against Colin Sinclai and Rohan Sikka. Court three featured a contest between Penn State's Matt Galush (Cary, N.C.) and Aws Laaribi (Rye, N.Y.) against Cornell's Lev Kazakov and Dylan Brown.
Single matches for the Lions today featured Bassetiere, Lakoseljac, Laaribi, and Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece). Aws Laaribi faced Cornell's Daniel Grunberger on court four and came up victorious for the Lions, posting a 6-1, 7-5 result.
The second match of the day will begin at 5:00 pm at the Indoor Tennis Facility in Happy Valley against St. Bonaventure, concluding Penn State's home opening weekend.
The Lion's next conquest will bring them back to their home courts this coming Friday, February 10 against Virginia Commonwealth University at 5:00 pm followed by another double-header on Sunday, February 12 against James Madison and Bucknell at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm, respectively.
