FH Alumni Update: Emilee Ehret

April 27, 2017

In our fourth-edition of the Penn State field hockey alumni update we take a look at Emilee Ehret, a recent alum having wrapped up her playing days in the Blue & White just a few months ago.

Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa.

Years with PSUFH: 2013-2016

Major: Political Science & Education and Public Policy

How did Penn State prepare you?
My experience at Penn State is indescribable. I am extremely grateful for the life lessons I have learned and the people that were able to push me to be the best student-athlete I could be. The support staff and community here at Penn State is one that will forever make me blood bleed blue and white. This university was able to expand my horizons and maximize my abilities both on the field and in the classroom. Penn State inspired me in ways that I did not think were possible. I came to this university on track to be a business major and am now graduating with two majors in Political Science and Education Policy. My advisors worked with me endlessly to further my competence and interest within the classroom. Their work put me on the right track which has further inspired me to pursue teaching and more education pursuing a Masters through the Teach for America program. I believe the rigor and difficulty academically and athletically has prepared me physically and mentally for anything that is thrown my way. I cannot wait to meet all the little smiling faces in my kindergarten classroom and the first thing they will learn is the "We Are" chant!

Favorite memory as a Nittany Lion?
Winning the Big Ten tournament was my favorite moment as a Nittany Lion. There were so many moments that made my career as a student-athlete so special and to have it all culminate in the championship game was a memory I will never forget. Carly, Kirsten and Brooke will be my lifelong friends and I know we will be talking about this game against Maryland for a long time. Thank you Coach Char, LB, Stu and Simon for letting me be a part of such a special program.

What are you currently up to?
I am currently taking four courses to finish my Education Policy major. I finished my Political Science major this past fall and these last 12 credits are to finish my second major. Also, I am preparing for my summer teacher training in Chicago for Teach for America. However, I already feel a void without playing field hockey, so I will be helping Windy City field hockey club in Chicago to continue teaching youth field hockey!

Anything else you would like to add?
Thank you Mom, Dad, Margaretha, Whitney, Sean: without your unwavering support throughout my field hockey career I would not be in this position today.
