UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Senior Chris Nugent has earned AVCA Sports Imports DI-II National Player of the Week honors, as announced by the organization this afternoon. The honor is the second of Nugent's career and the 17th time a Nittany Lion has been selected for the weekly award.

The honor comes just a day after he picked up his second EIVA Offensive Player of the Week award this season.

Nugent led Penn State to a 3-0 week at home against No. 1 Ohio State, Princeton and NJIT.

Nugent averaged 3.21 kills per set, hitting .430 in a 3-0 week for Penn State which included a 3-2 victory over No. 1 Ohio State in Rec Hall.

Nugent began the week with 19 kills while hitting .515 against the top-ranked Buckeyes. Nugent then added 14 kills while hitting .346 in the 3-2 victory over Princeton in EIVA action

Nugent wrapped up the weekend with 12 kills in a 3-1 win over NJIT hitting at a .407 clip in the conference match.

The Fair Lawn, N.J. native added four service aces and an assist while on defensive end Nugent added 23 digs and eight total blocks.

For the year, Nugent is fourth in the EIVA in hitting percentage (.322), fifth in kills (257) and kills/set (3.34).
