Big Ten Release
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State field hockey junior goalkeeper Jenny Rizzo (Hershey, Pa.) was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
This marks the second time in her career that Rizzo has earned Big Ten weekly honors for the Nittany Lions.
Penn State collected two wins this past weekend with a suffocating defensive effort led by Jenny Rizzo. Rizzo and crew posted two shutouts in their home opening weekend with the second win coming against No. 15 Wake Forest where Rizzo made a season-high nine saves.
This is the first Penn State Defensive Player of the Week accolade since Rizzo earned the accolades on Oct. 6, 2016.
Penn State hits the road for a Sunday afternoon matchup against Princeton Sept. 10 at 12 p.m.
