UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.-- After six days of action, the Nittany Lions concluded play today. Christos Antonopoulos (Athens, Greece) was the remaining member of the blue and white playing in the tournament.
After winning four singles matches throughout the duration of the tournament, Antonopoulos faced Virginia's Aswin Lizen in the semifinals. Despite a valiant effort, Antonopoulos dropped the match 6-3, 6-1 to end the Nittany Lions' tenure at the ITA Regionals.
"All in all I think it was a very good tournament," said associate head coach Paul Tobin. "Great job to Christos and Alp getting deep in the tournament. Right now the main goal is keeping the players focused. Keeping our top players engaged is important because they have a lot of time off. Now that we're starting to train indoors, we have to prepare ourselves for the faster courts."
The Lions next round of action will be October 27-29 at the Big Ten Indoor Championships, held in East Lansing, Michigan.
