Wilmington, N.C.- The Penn State women's golf team completed the first round of the Landfall Tradition today landing in 13th place as they head into round two tomorrow.
The Nittany Lions shot a 298 (plus-10) in the first round falling only one stroke behind Big Ten rival Michigan. Duke leads the tournament setting a Friday single-round record of 11-under 277.
Junior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) shot even to par (72) in the first round. Rogowicz is in the top 20, tied for 20th out of the 96-player field.
Fellow junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) leads Penn State in birdies tallying three in the first round. Basso shot two-over 74 leaving her tied for 35th.
Sophomore Maddy Herr (New Hope, Pa.) and junior Lauren Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) are tied for 58th. Both ladies shot four-over 76 in the first round. Sophomore Megan McLean recorded one birdie and shot 10-over 82.
Penn State resumes play tomorrow, Oct. 28, for the second round. The team will tee off from hole 10 with NC State and Clemson beginning at 9:15 a.m.
