Nov. 13, 2017

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.-The Penn State women's tennis team has received a signed National Letter of Intent from Olivia Ryan. Ryan will be joining the squad in the fall.

Ryan hails from Australia and has picked up many junior accolades there. She is currently ranked No. 8 in Australia for the 18 and under age group. In addition to that, she holds career high rankings as No. 2 in Victoria for her age group and No. 78 in Australia for Women's Open age group. Ryan owns two Australian Adult Singles Titles and six Australian Adult Doubles Titles. She was also captain of the Victoria state team in 2016.

"From our first conversations with Olivia we thought she would be a good fit for our program. Her coaches have talked of how she is a very good athlete and very coachable," said head coach Chris Cagle. "Her background in high-level play in Australia along with her desire to get better will be additional assets that she brings to our team. Coach Fenwick and I are excited to have Olivia as a part of our team and look forward to the impact that she will make on our team."

Ryan will suit up for the Lions in the 2018-19 season.
