Nittany Lion Duo Capture CHA Weekly Honors

WINTHROP, Mass. - A pair of Penn State women's hockey student-athletes garnered weekly honors from the College Hockey America (CHA) conference Monday. For Penn State, Hannah Ehresmann (Minnetonka, Minn.) was named the CHA Goalie of the Week, while Katie Rankin (Kanata, Ontario) was tabbed the CHA Rookie of the Week.

Ehresmann receives CHA Goalie of the Week honors for the third time this season and for the fifth time as a Nittany Lion; Rankin's CHA Rookie of the Week plaudit is the first of her career.

The Nittany Lions are coming off a series split at then-No. 6/7 Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio, Jan. 5-6.

For Ehresmann, she went 1-1-0 on weekend, tallied 70 saves, posted a goals-against average of 1.51, and recorded a save percentage of .959. Behind 31 saves in the opener from Ehresmann, the Nittany Lions captured a 5-1 victory. Penn State then closed out the weekend with a 2-0 loss with Ehresmann tallying a season-high 39-save outing.

Rankin picks up the CHA Rookie of the Week honor after tallying her first career two-goal outing in Penn State's 5-1 victory. With her two-goal outing, Rankin extended her career-best point streak to four games (3-3-6).

Penn State closes out its 11-game road trip at Lindenwood, Jan. 12-13. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. (EST) and 2 p.m. (EST) at the Lindenwood Ice Arena in Wentzville, Mo.
