Bowerman Release
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Isaiah Harris was one of 10 student-athletes featured on the Bowerman Preseason Watch List as announced Tuesday afternoon. This is the second-time that Harris has been featured on the Bowerman watch list.
Five men who won at least one individual title at either the NCAA Division I Indoor or Outdoor Track & Field Championships last year reside on the first Watch List for 2018 that was released Tuesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Since The Bowerman Watch List was introduced in 2010, six of the past eight winners appeared on the preseason edition including each of the past five (Christian Coleman, Jarrion Lawson, Marquis Dendy, Deon Lendore and Derek Drouin). So these 10 men already have a leg up on the competition.
Harris is coming off a sophomore season that saw him sweep the 800-meter titles at the Big Ten Championships for a second-straight season as well as posting a runner-up finish in the event at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. last June.
The Lewiston, Maine native also advanced to the IAAF World Championships in the 800-meters, following a runner-up finish at the USATF Championships in Sacramento, Calif. that saw his set a personal best as well as a new school record finishing in 1:44.53. At the IAAF World Championships, Harris advanced all the semifinal of the event at Olympic Stadium in London, England.
Harris and the Nittany Lions hit the track this weekend at the Nittany Lion Challenge Jan. 13 with action slated to begin at 11 a.m.
