May 30, 2018

GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Recent women's lacrosse graduates Katie O'Donnell (West Chester, Pa.) and Maggie Gallagher (Bel Air, Md.) were each selected to participate in the 2018 IWLCA Division I North/South Senior All-Star Game as announced late last week.

The game will be played at the US Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland on Tierney Field at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018. O'Donnell and Gallagher join 20 other senior all-stars to make up the North team, which will be guided by Penn State Associate Head Coach Amy Altig.

"I am very honored and excited to have the opportunity to work with some of the best players in the game," commented Altig. "I would like to thank the IWLCA North/South Committee for thinking of me to lead the North Senior All Stars. I am looking forward to a fun filled weekend of lacrosse and another opportunity to coach two great Penn State players in Katie and Maggie."

O'Donnell adds this achievement to her laundry list of accolades accumulated in 2018, which include All-Big Ten honors, IWLCA All-Region honors, an Inside Lacrosse All-American nod, a Big Ten Midfielder of the Year accolade as well as being drafted fourth overall in the WPLL Draft.

O'Donnell finished the 2018 campaign second on the team with 61 goals and 67 points while leading the team with 16 multi-goal efforts this season including five games with at least five goals. In her final game as a Nittany Lion, O'Donnell became just the fourth player in program history to eclipse the 200-goal plateau finishing her career with 203 goals scored while also ranking sixth all-time with 227 career points.

Gallagher concluded her time in the Blue and White with 58 goals and 25 assists for 83 points in 78 total games including back-to-back 23 goal seasons as a junior and senior. Gallagher's 23 goals this past season were good for fourth on the team and she also finished the year with career-highs in ground balls (22) and caused turnovers (14).

The two seniors were part of a group that made four-straight NCAA Tournaments including back-to-back Final Four runs in 2016 and 2017 while compiling an overall 57-26 record. The game will be web-streamed live on IWLCA-tv.com.
