Jones to Join MBB Class of 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Combination guard Myreon Jones Jr. will join the Penn State men's basketball program as a member of the class of 2018, coach Patrick Chambers announced today. A 6-3, 170-lb. senior, Jones signed his national letter of intent to enroll at Penn State and play for the Nittany Lions in 2018-19.

"M.J. will help transform our backcourt with his versatility and competitiveness," said Chambers. "With his skills, high basketball I.Q. and leadership qualities, he makes everyone around him better. He's a high achiever on the basketball court and in the classroom. We're thrilled to bring M.J. to Penn State."

Jones played his final season at Lincoln Academy in Suwanee, Georgia, and also played for the Nike EYBL Georgia Stars. Ranked No. 81 nationally by 247 Sports with a four-star rating, he averaged 19 points per game with single-game highs of 34 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists as a senior.

From Birmingham, Alabama, Jones helped lead the Bulldogs to a 25-9 record as Lincoln Academy earned a spot in the national prep rankings.

Jones played three years with the Huffman Vikings and averaged 20 points and six assists a game, scoring in double digits in all but one game his junior year. During the regular season, he scored a game-high 31 points against Pinson Valley and had 30 points, including four 3-pointers, in a Class 7A, Area 6 Tournament victory over Spain Park.
