Mark Hall Wins Pan-American Games Title

May 7, 2018

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. ââ'¬" The Penn State Nittany Lion wrestling team and the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club dominated the 2018 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, this past weekend. Nittany Lion Mark Hall (Apple Valley, Minn.) and NLWC stalwarts David Taylor and Ben Provisor walked away with three title and four medals combined.

With each wrestler representing the NLWC, Hall dominated the 79 kg freestyle field to win the 2018 Pan America Games title with a 3-0 mark. Joining Hall with a title performance was former Nittany Lion great and recent U.S. Open Champion David Taylor, who went 4-0 at 86 kg to win the Pan Am title.

Nittany Lion Wrestling Club resident Ben Provisor won two medals at the event. Provisor earned a third place medal at 87 kg in Greco Roman and then, with an illness keeping Team USA's 92 kg starter out, Provisor stepped in and rolled through the 92 kg freestyle field to win the Pan Am title with a 4-0 mark.

Taylor will compete in Final X State College as Rec Hall will host the event on June 16, 2018, at 6 p.m. The event will determine the 2018 U.S. Senior World Teams in men's and women's freestyle wrestling, featuring the nation's best Olympic-caliber athletes in these disciplines. Tickets may be purchased by calling 1-800-NITTANY or by visiting the BJC Ticket Office on Monday through Friday's from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
