Basso Completes Round Two at NCAA Regionals

Madison, Wis.- Penn State women's golfer junior Cara Basso (Downingtown, Pa.) shot 73 (plus-1) in the second round of the NCAA Madison Regional for a two-round score of 147 (plus-3). Basso is now tied for 44th place in the 96-person field.

Basso had birdies on holes two, six and 14. She finished the front nine two-under par and rounded out the back nine three-over par.

Basso is one of eight players tied for 44th. The other contestants reign from Kansas State, Arizona State, Oregon State, Purdue and Southern California. Basso and Kansas State's Connie Jaffrey are the only two individuals tied for 44th.

For the individuals, Indiana's Erin Harper had a standout performance shooting four-under 68 bumping her to second place on the overall leaderboard. Pinyada Kuvanun (Toledo) sits ahead of Basso and Jaffrey with a two-round score of 144 (E), tying for 24th overall. Pun Chanachai (New Mexico State) and Elsa Moberly (Eastern Kentucky) are in 71st and 85th place respectively.

The final round of play will take place tomorrow, May 9, with Cara Basso teeing off from hole one at 8:45 a.m. with Harper and Kuvanun. Live scoring is available at Golfstat.com.
