Meet the Freshmen: Rachel Wasserman

June 29, 2018

With the 2018 Penn State women's soccer season slowly approaching, GoPSUsports.com is asking each member of the 2018 signing class a few questions in order to get to know them better. We are continuing the series with midfielder/forward Rachel Wasserman.

A native of Dallas, Wasserman attended Highland Park High School and played club soccer for D'Feeters 00/99 ECNL. Wasserman is currently undecided on a major.

GoPSU: Your dad went to medical school at Penn State, what does it mean for you to attend school here?

RW: My dad going to the medical school at Hershey caused me to put Penn State on my radar for schools to look at. The fact that Penn State also had one of the top programs for soccer in the country just made my desire to come here that much stronger throughout my recruitment. The fact that my dream became reality and I can follow in my dad's footsteps at the same time is indescribable.

GoPSU: Summer session II is underway, how has your first week in Happy Valley been?

RW: I have absolutely loved my first week in Happy Valley. Everyone is so welcoming and the environment that surrounds this place is incredible.

GoPSU: You are currently undecided on a major, which majors are you looking at right now?

RW: I am very interested in psychology and criminology so I am taking intro classes that will lead me towards getting credits for those majors. Hopefully, after this year these classes will allow me to have a deeper understanding of what I want to pursue.

GoPSU: When did you know that you were going to attend Penn State?

RW: I committed to play soccer here March of my sophomore year and it is crazy to realize that I am finally here playing an active role in the program.

GoPSU: What is one thing fans should know about Rachel Wasserman?

RW: I think my fans should know that I appreciate every single person that has supported me on my journey thus far and cannot wait to represent the Penn State community on the field and off the field.
