GALLOWAY, N.J. -- Rising senior Jackie Rogowicz (Yardley, Pa.) will compete in the 2018 ShopRite LPGA Classic presented by Acer set to take place this weekend at the Bay Course of the Stockton Seaview Resort near Atlantic City.
Rogowicz, who had a 74.31 scoring average with three top-ten finishes in nine events this past season, competed in a two-day qualifying event, which began this past Sunday. With wind gusts up to 40 MPH, Rogowicz shot the low round of the day during Sunday's pre-qualifier with a 9-over-par-80 earning a spot in the Monday qualifier where she placed second in the 37 player field with a 2-under-par-69 at the par-71 course to earn her spot in the field.
"I honestly wasn't expecting to qualify, I was just focused on getting into the Monday qualifier," commented Rogowicz. "I have played in tough conditions before and knew that I had to be patient and understand that everyone is playing under the same conditions. I played the same game on Monday and with the change in weather the course became scoreable, I am extremely excited to play this weekend and just happy I have this opportunity."
Rogowicz, the only amateur listed in the 144 player field, is set to tee off at 7:37 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 to begin the 54-hole tournament. There will be a cut following the second round of competition on Saturday.
