Alumni days at Penn State provide an opportunity for former athletes to converge on University Park on a common day to reconnect with their former teammates. Although different teams have many different formats for alumni days, usually they occur in conjunction with a home game in- season, where student-athletes who make the trek back to Happy Valley can be recognized in front of all the fans. At these games we usually take pause at halftime or during a set break in the action to parade our alumni proudly for all to see. Alumni days also give former athletes a chance to meet the current players and stay in contact with the current coaching staff.
For our current athletes, having the alumni return en masse is an important part of passing on the legacy of Penn State athletics. To see the faces of the people who built our rich tradition helps our current athletes understand that they are the torch-bearers representing a long line of great Penn State teams and players. Our athletes need to hear from those who came before them of the ways in which playing for Penn State has influenced their lives.
Some sports have actual alumni games, and some have multiple activities throughout the year, from picnics and tailgates, to post-game socials and special banquets to commemorate program milestones and championship teams. Varsity S Day is the one event that brings all former varsity athletes, managers, cheerleaders, dance team members, and mascots who lettered at University Park back to Penn State for the first Big Ten home football game of the fall. This day is for our former athletes from all eras in all varsity sports. If you have ideas for helping us keep our athletes connected to Penn State, or if you want to plan a reunion for your sport, let us know here at the Varsity S Club . We are always looking for ways to bring people back to the hallowed grounds of Penn State, where their great memories were made.

CODE BLUE is a marketing initiative designed to increase student body attendance at all Penn State Olympic varsity athletic events. Every varsity team will have one CODE BLUE game which they feel requires more student support than usual. The ultimate goal is to support the athletes and show Penn State pride while building a strong fan base and camaraderie among students.
During the week prior to each CODE BLUE game, there will be signage and information posted around campus informing the student body of the upcoming event. Students will also have the opportunity to register for the GRAND PRIZE at the end of the year which is free textbooks for the following semester, sponsored by the PENN STATE BOOKSTORE, as well as either student season Basketball or Football tickets (depending on the semester). Additionally, immediately prior to each CODE BLUE game, there will be a free tailgate for the student body with an assortment of food, drinks, and games to help draw students to the event. Throughout the game, there will be multiple giveaways and prizes ranging in value.

Endowed Scholarship Nights help thank Penn State's Endowed Scholarship donors by having them at athletic events where the donors can see who benefits from their contributions first hand. Endowed Scholarships recognize the special abilities of our student-athletes and help them meet the tremendous demands placed upon them both in the classroom and on the field. They are essential if Penn State is to continue to compete with other Big Ten and nationally prominent universities in recruiting the nation's finest student-athletes.
Endowed Scholarship Donors help in numerous ways:
Endowed Position Scholarships
A gift of $300,000 or more can establish a position scholarship for a designated sport.
Upon activation, this type of scholarship produces approximately $15,000 in annual support and is awarded to the recipient student-athlete.
Named Scholarships
A gift of $50,000 or more can establish a named athletic scholarship.
Upon activation, this type of scholarship produces approximately $2,500 in annual support and is awarded to the recipient student-athlete.
Program Support Endowments
A gift of $25,000 or more can establish an endowment for program support for athletics in general or for a specific sport.
We would like to thank each of our donors for their tremendous generosity. Without your continued support we would not have the financial resources to continue to strive for athletic and academic excellence.
If you would like more information about our endowed scholarship program please contact one of our major gift officers at 814-863-GIFT (4438).

The Lady Lions have teamed up with the other women's athletic programs at Penn State to raise money for breast cancer awareness through the WBCA Pink Zone. In two years, the Lady Lions have raised more than $50,000 for four breast cancer organizations: Komen for the Cure, the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund. Last season, the field hockey, women's soccer and women's volleyball squads raised money for the WBCA Pink Zone fund.
