Today was our first official day in Spain!! We arrived in Madrid around 12:00 a.m. Happy Valley time, but the morning had just begun for the people of Spain. So when in Spain, do as the Spaniards do. And that we did. Despite the lack of sleep and initial hunger, the trip is off to an awesome start.
We kicked off the morning with a bus tour of the city. On it, we hit some major Madrid sites including: Plaza del Toros and Museo Del Prado. As a team, we were thankful to have the bus as it served as a means for nap time in between stops.
We finished off the tour in the city center and experienced Madrid's main square, the Plaza Del Sol!! From there we had some good eats and hit some of the local shops. The churros y chocolate was the highlight of the afternoon.
Tonight we'll head over to a team welcome dinner before catching up on some much-needed sleep. Tomorrow we head to see more of Madrid and medieval Toledo before playing our first game tomorrow night! Overall, the Lady Lions had a great first day and are already loving Spain!
Signing off,
#34 Sarah McMurtry
