Nittany Lions Gear Up For Nonconference Battle At #4 Princeton

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pennsylvania – The Penn State women's hockey team completes the nonconference portion of its regular season schedule with a Tuesday evening matchup at fourth-ranked Princeton starting at 6 p.m.

PEAKING FOR THE STRETCH RUN
The Nittany Lions are 3-1-3 in their last seven games since coming back from the midseason break, including wins or close games against #8 BU, #6 Cornell, Lindenwood, and Syracuse.
 
This marks the latest PSU has been above .500 in a season since the end of the 2014-15 campaign (17-16-4).
 
Penn State has the most wins on the road of any CHA team this season while also carrying a winning record on home ice.
 
The Nittany Lions have eight games remaining against College Hockey America opponents to conclude this season.
 
LOOKING AT PRINCETON
Princeton enters this Tuesday's game with a 13-2-5 overall record and is currently riding an 18-game unbeaten streak. The Tigers' 11-0-3 record in the ECAC has them atop the conference standings with 25 points. The last time the Tigers lost was their season-opening series on the road at now top-ranked Wisconsin Oct. 19-21.
 
The Tigers are led in scoring by freshman forward Sarah Fillier who is one of two players in the country averaging 2.0 points per game or more this season (Loren Gabel, 2.04). Her 32 points and 20 assists lead Princeton.
 
Junior forward Carly Bullock and freshman forward Maggie Connors are tied for the team lead with 14 goals apiece. Bullock leads the team with at +22 plus/minus and Connors has 105 shots on goal to lead the team.
 
Sophomore goaltender Rachel McQuigge has been the Tigers primary goaltender this season and holds an 8-2-4 record in 2018-19. She also has a .937 save percentage and a 1.61 goals against average, tied with Penn State's Jenna Brenneman for the eighth-best mark in the nation.
 
SERIES VERSUS PRINCETON
This game between the Nittany Lions and Tigers with be the 9th all-time meeting. Princeton leads the series 6-1-1, including a 3-0 win Jan. 30, 2018 at Pegula Ice Arena in the last matchup. Both teams played to a 5-5 tie Dec. 31, 2016, the last time the teams faced each other at Princeton.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS SPECIALISTS
The Nittany Lions are currently ranked as the top power play unit and penalty kill unit in College Hockey America. Penn State's power play has scored on 17-of-88 chances (19.3%) this season. Penn State has scored on the advantage six times in the last five games.
 
PSU also sports the top PK unit in the league at 85.4% (70-of-82). The Nittany Lions haven't allowed a power play goal in seven of the last eight games and have stalled the last 11 power plays against.
