BATON ROUGE, La. – The Penn State track & field program traveled to LSU for the Battle on the Bayou Saturday. Seven Nittany Lions set personal-best marks during the meet that featured Alabama, LSU, Kansas and Ohio State as the competition.

Alexis Holmes continued her successful freshman campaign by winning the women's 400-meter race. Holmes ran 52.64 to secure the win. Holmes is currently third in the NCAA in the women's 400m race. Holmes also competed in the women's 200-meter dash, finishing fourth.
In the women's pole vault, Carena Nottoli and Greer Gumbrecht each set personal-bests by clearing 3.90m. Nottoli and Gumbrecht placed fourth and fifth respectively in the event.
Madison Smith and Michael Biddle gave the Nittany Lions another sweep of the javelin events.
Ben Peterson kept the Nittany Lions on top of the podium in the field events. Peterson set a personal-best in the men's shot put, throwing 60-0.25 (18.29m) to pace the field. This throw moved Peterson into the top-30 in the NCAA in the men's shot put.
Devin Bradham also set a personal-best in the men's high jump. Bradham cleared 7 feet, one inch (2.16m), finishing second in the event. Bradham's height catapulted him to 18th in the NCAA in the men's high jump.
Elyse Skerpon (women's 400m hurdles), Rachel Gearing (women's triple jump), and Noah Swaby (men's 110m hurdles & men's long jump) also set personal-bests at the Battle on the Bayou.
The Nittany Lions travel to the Bucknell Classic (April 13-14) for the next meet of the 2019 outdoor season.
