Auth Earns Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week Honor

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State women's lacrosse junior Maria Auth was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.  Auth played a huge role in Penn State's 21-5 win over Ohio State last Thursday.

Auth earned her second Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award in her career.  She also won it on March 20, 2018.
 
The Maryland native collected 11 points including eight goals and three assists in two games.  She added two ground balls, a draw control and two free position goals.
 
In the Nittany Lions' win over the Buckeyes, Auth tallied a career-high nine points, including six goals and three assists.  She found the net four times in the first half, including two on free-position looks and two in man-up situations.  Auth assisted on Penn State's first three goals of the game.  Her seven first half points helped PSU to build a 14-2 halftime lead.
 
Auth added two goals on Sunday against No. 8 Virginia.  Her goal at the 21:29 mark of the first half tied the game at 3-3 and her tally with 20:16 remaining in the second half brought PSU within one, 11-10. 
 
On the season, Auth has 24 points, with 17 goals and 7 assists, eight ground balls and two draw controls.  She has six games with two or more points and five games with two or more goals.
 
The Nittany Lions, led by Head Coach Missy Doherty, are 5-7 overall and 1-3 in Big Ten play.  Penn State returns to action on Tuesday, April 16 at Duquesne.  First draw is scheduled for 3 p.m. on ESPN+.
