UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Head coach Denise St. Pierre and the Penn State women's golf team announced the addition of Mathilde Delavallade to the class of 2019 earlier this week. Delavallade joins Isha Dhruva and Lauren Freyvogel, who signed their letters of intent last November, to round out the incoming freshman class.
Delavallade will make the trip across the Atlantic Ocean from Royan, France to join the Nittany Lions this fall. A decorated amateur golfer, Delavallade has been ranked as high as 115 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and over the past two years has 11 top-10 finishes with a pair of victories.
Delavallade captured the French Championship crown in June of 2018 as well as finishing first at the Grand Prix de Royan the week prior. Later that summer she also placed 38th in the European Ladies Amateur Tournament. In her last two events so far this season, Delavallade has placed ninth and third, respectively.
Delavallade, whose father Gilles is the Head Golf Professional at Golf de Royan (ranked No. 75 in the top-100 golf courses in France), plans to major in business once she arrives in Happy Valley.
Penn State's 2019 fall season will consist of four tournaments with three during the month of September followed by a single tournament in October. The Nittany Lions full 2019 fall schedule with dates and locations will be released in the coming weeks.
