AUSTIN, Texas – Five Nittany Lions travel to the NCAA Outdoor Championships hosted by the University of Texas. The Penn State track & field program will have three men's student-athletes and two women's student-athletes in competition from June 5-8.

NCAA OUTDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS PREVIEW
Junior Danae Rivers looks to put an exclamation point on her incredible 2019 track & field season this week at the outdoor championships. The 800m indoor national champion also captured the Big Ten 800m indoor championship, 800m Big Ten outdoor championship and 1500m Big Ten outdoor championship.
Rivers is a five-time first team All-American and eight-time Big Ten Champion between indoor and outdoor competition. She will compete on Thursday evening in the 800m semifinal. Rivers finished eighth in the 800m at the 2017 NCAA Championships.
Senior Morgan Shigo looks to repeat another All-American performance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Shigo placed sixth at last year's NCAA Championship and was the first Big Ten champion in the men's hammer throw in Penn State history. Shigo is the school record holder in the men's hammer throw.
Three Nittany Lions will be making their first appearance at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Freshman Noah Swaby represents the blue & white in the decathlon. Swaby ranks eighth all-time at Penn State with 7,411 points in the event.
Freshman Julia Paternain will compete in the 5000m. Paternain is sixth all-time at Penn State in the 5000m race.
Mark Porter clinched his spot in men's javelin throw at the NCAA Championships. Porter finished second at the Big Ten Championships and finished sixth at the NCAA East Prelims.
2018 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS REWIND
Isaiah Harris claimed the 800m national championship at the 2018 NCAA Championships. Harris finished in the top-five twice in 2016 (4th) and 2017 (2nd) before finally claiming a national title.
Along with Harris, David Lucas (Discus), Morgan Shigo (Hammer), Maddie Holmberg (Heptathlon), Danae Rivers (1500m) and Megan McCloskey (High Jump) earned first team All-American status at the 2018 NCAA Championships.
The Nittany Lions were the only Big Ten program to finish in the top-25 in both the men's and women's standings.
